This November, we continued our longest-running and most cherished tradition with the 2023 Thanksgiving Community Dinner at the Hall at Fauntleroy. Founder Meg Haggerty’s grandfather, Big Gordon, drove around every Thanksgiving with a trunk full of frozen turkeys, dropping off the birds at local churches for those in need of a holiday meal. In the spirit of Big Gordon, the Haggerty family has hosted this free Thanksgiving dinner since 1997, bringing together members of the community who want to spend the holiday with neighbors, and friends old and new.
This year, members of our team and a number of generous volunteers hosted 360 community members on Thanksgiving day. We also delivered 120 meals to low-income residence buildings and brought leftover food to the Union Gospel Mission!
Our Jr. Sous Chef, Zach Mosely, curated a traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings for this year’s celebration. The holiday menu consisted of an Apple Cider and Sage Brined Turkey Breast with Pan Gravy, Rosemary and Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Homemade Buttermilk and Herb Stuffing, Maple Glazed Squash and Brussel Sprouts with Bourbon Macerated Cherries, Blood Orange Braised Dino Kale Rice Wine Pickled Carrots, and more! In addition to the meal, our incredible community members donated freshly baked desserts, including the cutest turkey cupcakes, homemade cookies, pies, and brownies. The community also came together and donated gently used warm clothing and new blankets and socks for those in need of them this winter.
We are so grateful for this tradition and the opportunity to spend Thanksgiving each year with our cherished Seattle community and our DSquared team.
Happy holidays!
